Sponsorship opportunities for the upcoming 2015 season are also available.  Sponsorship money is an IMPORTANT part of how CVLL provides services and facilities for our players so please consider taking part.  More information will be coming from myself and our sponsorship/fundraising officer Mike Ganem soon via e-mail!

Evaluations
Evaluations for baseball and softball will be held on three different occasions:

  1. Sunday, February 1st from 12noon-4pm at Mehl Park #2/#3
  2. Wednesday, February 4th from 5-8pm at Mehl Park #2/#3

Please see the 2015 registration information document on the website and the information provided during the on-line registration process for further times/age group breakdowns.  In general, league age 8yo and older should be evaluated for softball and 9yo and older should be evaluated for baseball.  There are exceptions so please ask if need be.

Field Maintenance Day
The CVLL Field Maintenance Day where a $35 credit can be given to each family (if participation is documented) is scheduled to be held on Saturday, February 14th from 9am-12noon.  Please put this on your calendar as many volunteers will be needed to keep our facilities/fields the most beautiful and best maintained in the city!

Team Formations/Practice/Opening Day
Team formation and notification to families/players as to which teams they’ll be on should occur at the end of February – by approximately 02/25/2015 so stay tuned.  Practices can officially begin at Mehl Park on Monday, March 2nd!  Opening Day events and the first games of the spring season is scheduled for Saturday, March 14th where we’ll all kick off the new season!  Please put these dates on your family calendar now if you can.

All-Stars
CVLL wants to emphasize the importance of fielding the very best All-Star teams as possible at the end of the season as this is a reflection of all the hard work that the players/coaches/families/staff have put in all year long.  This takes some planning to do well so please note that All-Star tryouts will generally happen 1-1.5 weeks after the regular season ends and is currently scheduled to occur on Saturday, June 6th, 2015. Practices start shortly thereafter and district games conclude before July 4th!  CVLL will hopefully have the ability to ask all of our players to participate in tryouts so please put these dates on your family calendar.

Miscellaneous
The CVLL website is being updated with valuable information for our baseball and softball players so please take a look.  PLEASE NOTE: baseball players have new rules, which may impact your players league age for baseball.  See here - http://www.littleleague.org/learn/rules/rulechanges.htm.  Also, just like last year Little League International allows all potential players that go to school within the Little League boundaries to participate in the particular Little League regardless of home address.  So anyone attending and Catalina Foothills District school (open enrollment) can play in Canyon View – tell friends and others at school!  The one page form needed to document this is super easy to fill out and is available to download from the website.

Please like us on Facebook if you can :)!

Thank You,
Jonathan Favre, CVLL President and father of three CVLL players
